Following a historical trial that lasted for two weeks, the US Senate Wednesday acquitted President Donald Trump of abuse of power, the first of two impeachment charges.
President Donald Trump, has been cleared of both charges in the impeachment trial, by the United State Senate, bringing to an end the impeachment drama that has consumed Washington since the House of Representatives launched its inquiry into the president’s actions last September.
The Senate found Trump not guilty of abusing his power of office In a 52-48 vote.
The Senate also voted 53-47 to acquit the president on the charge of obstruction of Congress.
The Republican-majority Senate voted 52-48 to acquit Trump of charges that he withheld military aid to Ukraine to pressure Kiev to investigate political rival Joe Biden and help his re-election effort.
