BREAKING: Umahi wins as Appeal Court dismisses his sack as Ebonyi gov

On Friday, an Appeal Court in Enugu dismissed a complaint seeking the removal of Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi and his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, from office.

Umahi’s removal from office was sought in the complaint because he moved from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Senator Soni Ogbuoji, the APC’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election, and his running partner, Justin Mbam, filed the complaint.

Sack: Umahi, deputy, others seek stay of execution of judgment

Recently, an Abuja High Court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed Umahi, Igwe, and 17 state lawmakers for defecting from the PDP to the APC.

However, on February 28, 2022, a High Court sitting in Abakaliki dismissed the identical claim.

The action was rejected by Justice A.O Belgore because it was contradictory with the law.
