On 5 June 2021, the Nigerian government officially put an indefinite ban on Twitter, restricting it from operating in Nigeria after the social media platform deleted tweets made by President Buhari.

Buhari had announced that the ban on Twitter would be lifted, but only if the social media giant met certain conditions.

The president disclosed this during his televised broadcast to Nigerians on the country’s 61st Independence Day anniversary.

However, today, January 12 ban on Twitter is lifted officially bringing relief to Nigerians who find it difficult to do business without the social media platform.
