The Borno Government announced on Wednesday the kidnapping of Mr Bulama Geidam, a health worker at the General Hospital Gubio, by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), ISWAP rebels invaded Gubio on Wednesday about 2 a.m. and looted food and petrol from a humanitarian vehicle.
Juliana Bitruce, the state Commissioner for Health, confirmed the abduction to NAN in Maiduguri, calling it “unfortunate and unsettling.”

She stated that the abducted health worker was one of several who remained on job despite the problems of insecurity in the region.
“The ministry will write to officially inform all the concerned security agencies, including the Theater Command, Operation Hadin Kai,” she said.
The commissioner prayed for the safe release of the health worker.
According to reports that residents who fled for safety during the attack returned to their homes after the insurgents had withdrawn from the town.
