Angry housewife drags husband to court for slapping her

Oyenike Oladele, an outraged housewife, has taken her husband, Olowolagba, 45, before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for alleged assault.

Oyenike was alleged to have filed a complaint at the Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo alleging that her husband had beaten her.

The accused reportedly committed the crime on January 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., in the Aregbe district of Osogbo.

Inspector Adeoye Kayode, the Police Prosecutor, informed the court that the accused hit his wife in the face.

According to the prosecutor, the offense committed is in violation of and punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused, on the other hand, pled not guilty to the one-count assault accusation brought against him.

The defence counsel, Najite Okobe, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms as the constitution presumed him innocent until proven contrary in court.

In his ruling, Magistrate Asimiyu Adebayo granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

The magistrate ruled that the surety, with verifiable address, should be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.

The case was adjourned till March 16 for mention.
