39-year-old farmer and petty trader Mrs Agatha Uba, who constantly abuse a 6-year-old Amanda was busted by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Ndidi Mezue.
However, the commissioner on Monday, November 30, rescued the Victim from the abusive woman at Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
The Suspect hails from Awo Idemili, Osu LGA of Imo State, but resides at Adagbe Village, Abagana with her husband and three other children, aged seven, five and two.
The woman who is baren upon interrogation reveal that she adopted all the children from different locations in Anambra State.
The child was rescued following complaints by concerned citizens who reported the maltreatment, starvation and abuse at child department of the ministry.
The commissioner in a statement said:
“I have to deploy a team from the ministry to Abagana in other to rescue the remaining children. I assure you, we will make sure this matter is investigated to assertain the sources where the children were adopted from, for subsequent prosecution of the lady by the police.”
