11 Nigerian Navy applicants lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Saturday, while travelling to write an examination for the Nigerian Navy in Kano.
The applicants met their untimely death when their vehicle rammed into a trailer, which was parked wrongly by the road.
The victims are from Gagarawa Local Government Area of Jigawa, police statement revealed.
An eyewitness account reveal that the crash occurred around Ringim Town in Jigawa, about 70 kilometres to Kano where they were billed to sit for Nigerian Navy screening examination.
The eyewitness further revealed that the incident happened when the driver of a Golf 3 wagon rammed into a parked sugarcane truck and ten persons died on the spot while others were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The Jigawa state police spokesperson, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirm the sad incident in a statement on Saturday.
He said:
“The truck was parked and occupied almost half of an incoming lane as a result ten persons including the driver, lost their lives on the spot, while two others are responding to treatment.
“One other victim later died in the hospital and all corpses (are) released to relatives for burial
